5 AAA titles we can’t wait to get our hands on in 2022

2022 could be one of the most exciting gaming years in a long time. Not only because the new generation of consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X) can be better understood and utilized by developers, but also because many games have been pushed from 2021 to next year due to the Corona pandemic. This has created a dense release calendar, with big sequels as well as brand new titles. However, we’re only looking at the big-budget works, AAA games with great production values and huge development teams. So here are our favorites of the really big games of next year 2022:

  1. Horizon: Forbidden West, Feb. 18 for PlayStation and PC: The story of Aloy, the red-haired warrior in an end time populated by robot animals, continues. The first part from 2017 shone with a great protagonist, an exciting story, and a fantastic world that was more than convincing graphically. The post-apocalypse was rarely this beautiful!
  2. Elden Ring, Feb. 25 for PC, Xbox and PlayStation: Hardly any game generates as much hype among gamers as the next work from FromSoftware, makers of the incredibly popular (but also incredibly difficult) Dark Souls games as well as other titles like Bloodborne and Sekiro. This time, the developers of the so-called Soulsborne series have even enlisted reinforcements from Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin for the story and game world.
  3. Gran Turismo 7, April 3 for PlayStation: The racing legend is finally back with a full-fledged title. While the last part was more of a slimmed-down online version, Sony presents real racing fun on a simulation level again with the seventh installment. It will be exciting to see how the developers will use the photorealistic graphics power of the PS5 to show even more details on tracks and vehicles.
  4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, TBA for Nintendo Switch: Nintendo has not yet announced an exact release date, but at least 2022 is said to be safe. According to the epic trailer at E3 2021, our hero Link might even have to face the game series’ über-enemy Ganondorf. The world delights with floating cities and gameplay that revolves around flying and gliding.
  5. God of War: Ragnarok, TBA for Playstation: Since PS2 times, God of War has been an iconic brand for Sony’s consoles. In 2018, the relaunch of the series followed, in which the hero and demigod Kratos was not only allowed to continue beating up gods, but had to come to terms with his rebellious son. He is already a teenager in the next part, which should only make the story more interesting. The fantastic game world around Norse mythology doesn’t hurt this blockbuster game, either.
